Where were we?
Oh yes, Elisao Gilbert Jimenez, 67, was found harboring 200 dead and a number of dying dogs, as well as live dogs who feasted on their fellow canines, according to police.
Jimenez, from Temecula, Ca. also had a dead cat on the bathroom counter, as well as pregnant and sick felines. Dogs that had been freshly killed in fights with other canines also were found in the home.
Well, rather than going on to trial and facing 10 animal cruelty counts, which surely would have resulted in some serious prison time, Jimenez pleaded guilty to three animal cruelty counts and was immediately sentenced to five years probation, three days in jail and 1,000 hours of community service.
The other seven counts were dismissed.
It is interesting to note that the judge, Dennis McConaghy http://members.calbar.ca.gov/search/member_detail.aspx?x=89600, did not order a mental health evaluation for Jimenez, which he clearly needed.
It is my experience covering these sorts of cases that the suspects usually go back to their felonious activity.
This guy clearly has issues and I can almost guarantee that those 1,000 hours of community service will not be fulfilled.
So, more animals will suffer and this guy, who really needs help, will go on with his monstrous insanity...
How is this justice?
